Smart phones and mobile applications have undoubtedly changed nearly every aspect of how we operate in our day to day lives. Law enforcement is no different. Criminals now use social media, peer-to-peer payment platforms and numerous other mobile applications to commit various crimes. Simply put, if you’re not up to date, you’re going to be left behind.

The Narcotics and Street Crimes in a New Era course instruct officers on how to turn the tables on criminals. It will educate those who attend to use mobile applications in conjunction with law enforcement tools, to build strong, effective cases from a patrol level, up to major investigations.

During the course officers will learn to:

Effectively navigate major social media and peer-to-peer payment applications such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Venmo, PayPal and many others.

Set-up/manage undercover accounts to be used in conjunction with law enforcementtools to develop case leads.

Expand leads into large scale investigations by combining open source data and law enforcement tools, including but not limited to, record databases, GPS trackers,controlled buys, surveillance, phone downloads and numerous others.

Organize case files resulting in effective prosecution.

Review report writing and subpoena verbiage along with current case law.

*This is a hands-on training and officers are encouraged to bring a cellphone, tablet, or computer not attached to their personal life. Officers will have the opportunity to leave with a fully functioning, undercover social media accounts for their own use.
